On July 12, the Nothin’ Dragon Paddling Society gathered for our much-anticipated annual summer BBQ, hosted at the beautiful home and property of our generous teammates Warren and Marlene. With clear skies, warm weather, and great company, the evening was a wonderful reminder of the strong bonds and community spirit that make our team so special.
The event was made extra refreshing thanks to the generous beer sponsorship from Yellow Dog Brewing — big cheers to them! A heartfelt thank-you also goes out to Marlene for coordinating the event and to everyone who pitched in with set-up, food prep, grilling, and clean-up. It was truly a team effort.
President Robbin took a moment to recognize the steady hands that support our paddling success, offering a heartfelt Ode to Neil, our coach boat and safety boat driver. Vice president Steve followed with a fitting tribute— an Ode to Our Experience Whisperer — in appreciation of Dale, who has masterfully managed our Dragon Boat Experience program again this season.
We also took time to bid farewell — or more accurately, see you soon — to longtime teammate Marjorie Wong, who has been a valued part of Nothin’ Dragon since 2018. While she’s headed further east into the valley, we hope to see her back on the water whenever possible. Marjorie, thank you for your calm strength and steady presence — you will be missed!
