Date & Time:
The drill will take place at Old Orchard Park at 10:00 AM. This timing allows us to complete the drill in the morning, and those who wish can join for lunch at the Legion afterward.
What to Expect:
This drill will take a bit longer than a pool session, so be prepared for some downtime while waiting for your turn. You’ll be standing around in your bathing suits (or any other comfortable attire you prefer). Paddlers may want to wear something easy to remove when it's their turn. While we are hoping for good weather, I will ensure that the bathrooms and change rooms are open at the park so everyone can stay warm and change in comfort.
What to Bring:
Change of clothes
Towel
Footwear worn in the boat should be secured to feet.
Dress as you would in the boat or wear a bathing suit.
I have two wetsuits available if needed. The drill will involve two people at a time in the canoe, and while they climb into the coach boat, another person can return the canoe to shore. Neil, who has taught at Power Squadron, will be handling the coach boat and returning paddlers to shore.
How to Participate:
To ensure everything runs smoothly, it’s crucial to know how many paddlers are willing to participate in the canoe tipping and re-entry into the coach boat. Your involvement is important to ensure the drill is efficient and successful.
Please confirm your attendance on TeamSnap so we can plan accordingly.
HELP NEEDED
1. We need several people to help Neil with the coach boat at OMBH at 9 a.m.
2. We need several people to help take the canoe off my vehicle at Old Orchard at 9:30 a.m.
3. We need volunteers to help in the water with the following tasks:
Tipping the canoe back up.
Bringing the canoe back to shore, which may require some bailing.
