I am participating in a fundraising event for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. When the AIDS pandemic swept across the continent of Africa, millions of children were left alone and vulnerable. With little or no support, it was the grandmothers of Africa who stepped in to care for them. Now with the COVID pandemic and restrictions and lockdowns affecting every corner of the globe, the need is as great as ever.
The grandmothers movement amplifies the voices, expertise and leadership of African Grandmothers while also highlighting the solidarity of grandmothers and grandmothers in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States who raise funds to support the life-enhancing programs of community based partners.
