Our Boat. Our Waters. Our Way.
Dragon boating is more than a sport for us. It’s how we connect with each other, perfect the rhythm of moving as one, and enjoy the inlet we paddle on.
Every paddle stroke starts with awareness — of the water beneath us, the people around us, and the place we call home.
Paddling the Inlet
We paddle out of Rocky Point Park in Port Moody, on sheltered inlet waters that reward patience, timing, and teamwork.
Conditions change with tide, weather, and season — teaching us to listen, adjust, and move together. This is where beginners learn their first stroke, where crews find their rhythm, and where our teams prepare for racing.
One Boat. Many Roles.
A dragon boat only moves well when everyone understands their role. Timing matters. Trust matters. Listening matters.
Whether you are a new paddler or a seasoned racer, every seat in the boat contributes to how the boat runs — and how the team feels when it crosses the finish line.

The Kingfisher Logo
Patient. Focused. At home on the inlet.
The kingfisher reminds us to watch, work, and move together along the inlet where we paddle. Often seen perched quietly above the water, it waits — watching, listening — before acting with speed and precision.
For our club, the kingfisher represents how we strive to paddle: aware of our surroundings, connected to each other, and ready to move together with purpose.
On the water, success comes not from rushing, but from timing. From noticing the moment. From trusting the team beside you. The kingfisher reminds us that stillness and focus are not passive — they are preparation.

The Kingfisher and the Inlet Spring Regatta at Rocky Point Park
The kingfisher story carries special meaning for our Inlet Spring Regatta, where visiting teams come together on these same waters. Each April we welcome 44 Dragon Boat teams from across BC even the USA – it is the first regatta of the season.
The regatta version of the story explores the kingfisher more deeply — its cultural meaning, artistic origins, and connection to place.
Why It Matters
Our boat is where community forms, confidence grows, and purpose takes shape. The stories we carry — of place, people, and patience — travel with us every time we paddle together.
This is how we paddle. This is who we are.
